32: SPARK Course Success: How Stephanie Achieved Her Breakthrough After 26 Years of Marriage

How do abandonment issues in childhood affect your marriage? Do you tend to hold back from giving your marriage everything you’ve got? Maybe one of you is guilty of throwing out the “d” word one too many times.

In this episode, I am joined by Stephanie Fryar who is a student of the SPARK Re-Ignite beta course. Stephanie and her husband have been married for 26 years and have four children. As with any marriage, they have had their share of ups and downs. Things were at a tipping point earlier this year, when out of the blue, her husband called and told her he would agree to go to marriage therapy. Stephanie admits she was shocked, but jumped at the chance! The same day she came across the SPARK course and immediately signed up.

I am excited for Stephanie to share more about her experience with the course. She admits that while her husband did not take the course with her, she has seen many positive shifts happen while going through the course herself.

In today’s episode we dive into love languages, dealing with opposite personalities, and the challenge of not falling back into old habits. We will also uncover the truth behind trust issues that hold some people back from being able to give their marriage 100%.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • The length of your marriage does not determine its success
  • The power of changing your habits
  • The effect of “always” and “never” statements in your marriage
  • One person’s decision to change can ultimately benefit both spouses
  • How to use the current gift of time to strengthen your relationship
  • How to get through trust and jealousy issues in your relationships
  • The importance of relieving the guilt you have over not trusting 100% in your relationships

As human beings, we are good at seeing the negatives of others, but in this episode, Stephanie helps us realize that self-examination, though painful, can go a long way to creating change and improving your relationships.

It doesn’t matter how long you have been with your spouse or what you have been through.  The positive changes you make today will help you on your path towards a marriage on fire!

XO,
Amy
